Woodfair Sept 08 at Bentley Wildfowl

Heartwood stole the show with our Woodfairstand displaying an oak frame with curved braces, doors, windows, tables and beautiful signage. We raised alot of interest with our unique style of craftsmanship and the public were very interested in the historic case studies and the work in progress joinery exhibits.

The Woodfair is held annually at Bentley and in 2008 attracted 11,500 visitors with 140 exhibitors. There are a wide range of demonstrations, exhibitors and stalls, ranging from traditional woodland crafts, educational activities, trade exhibits, forestry demonstrations to products and timber for sale.

Heartwood Construction shows a refreshing enthusiasm and a professional approach to the inevitable repairs that are required. The installation of a concealed steel (T / flitch plate) inside a prominent oak beam was completed with a minimum of fuss and no unsightly reminders. Chris Payne richly deserves his 2009 Sussex Heritage Trust Award for a competent and sympathetic approach to historic restoration.
